Charles Krauthammer takes Obama to task for his “doctrine” of “leading from behind”:

It is the fate of any assertive superpower to be envied, denounced and blamed for everything under the sun. Nothing has changed. Moreover, for a country so deeply reviled, why during the massive unrest in Tunisia, Egypt, Bahrain, Yemen, Jordan and Syria have anti-American demonstrations been such a rarity?

Who truly reviles America the hegemon? The world that Obama lived in and shaped him intellectually: the elite universities; his Hyde Park milieu (including his not-to-be-mentioned friends, William Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn); the church he attended for two decades, ringing with sermons more virulently anti-American than anything heard in today’s full-throated uprising of the Arab Street.

It is the liberal elites who revile the American colossus and devoutly wish to see it cut down to size. Leading from behind — diminishing America’s global standing and assertiveness — is a reaction to their view of America, not the world’s.

Other presidents have taken anti-Americanism as a given, rather than evidence of American malignancy, believing — as do most Americans — in the rightness of our cause and the nobility of our intentions. Obama thinks anti-Americanism is a verdict on America’s fitness for leadership. I would suggest that “leading from behind” is a verdict on Obama’s fitness for leadership.

Leading from behind is not leading. It is abdicating. It is also an oxymoron. Yet a sympathetic journalist, channeling an Obama adviser, elevates it to a doctrine. The president is no doubt flattered. The rest of us are merely stunned.

Video: Natl. Black Chamber of Commerce Prez, Harry Alford Claims Obama Conspiring To Destroy NBCC

April, 29, 2011 — nicedeb

Harry Alford is the president and CEO of the National Black Chamber of Commerce, and he’s a lot of fun to listen to. (You may remember his acrimonious confrontation with Barbara Boxer, at a Senate Hearing in 2009.)

Alford has nothing good to say about Obama, (who he calls a Marxist). He admits to voting for Obama because he was black and because he fell for the hope and change rhetoric. Now, he says support for Obama is waning in the black community, and he predicts that Obama will get only 35% of the black vote in the next election.

Shockingly, he charges that the Obama is conspiring to destroy the Black Chamber of Congress… and I don’t say that tongue in cheek. If what he is saying about the Obama White House is true, it is shocking:

The Associated Press: Santorum to NRA: Obama doesn’t understand America

(AP) – 1 day ago

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Republican presidential aspirant Rick Santorum told National Rifle Association members at their annual convention Friday that President Barack Obama doesn’t “understand America,” and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich told them the administration is “consistently anti-gun and anti-Second Amendment.”

Santorum, a former U.S. senator from Pennsylvania, criticized remarks the president made about two weeks ago when he said America not only was a better country because of social programs like Medicare and Medicaid but said, “I’ll go further — we would not be a great country without these commitments.”

“Mr. President,” Santorum said, “You don’t understand America if you believe that,” because it implies the United States wasn’t great for most of the first 200 years of its history.

$76,000 protest disrupts swank Obama SF fundraiser: “We paid our dues..where’s our ‘change”? (VIDEO) : SFGate: Politics Blog

Caught this comment in the SF Chronicle.  Struck me so much I wanted to share.

A definition of madness is doing the same thing over and over and expect a different result. The left expects the authoritarian totalitarianism of a government will result in an idyllic society where they will reign supreme. The defunct Soviet Union, the dismal examples of Cuba and North Korea they all resulted in the same situation: poverty of the working masses, class warfare, corruption and regression. The so called Progressives are new fangled communists who aim to rule the people by consensus, their consensus. That left supported Barack Hussein Obama when they thought he was one of their own. Little did they know that the only cause HBO has is his own. He cares only about himself and will do whatever is necessary to get his way. That is why he chose his black half, adopted the African name and joined the black anti-American church of Jeremiah Wright. He was a community activist, renaming himself as Organizer because it sounds like he had some executive experience. Actually, those Progressives, ignorant of history and pursuing a radical agenda were used by BHO for his political gains. We elected a trainee to the highest office of the land without any real experience in business and/or government. He attended 124 sessions of his state senate and was never the head of anything. Always a little cog-wheel. Now he is our president. We deserve what we have for being so naive and ignorant of the history of the world and for allowing slogans to garner our votes. The new one: Winning the future! Will Americans fall for that one?

My response:

Amidst all of the trash that appears in these types of articles, occasionally someone is able, in efficient terms, spells out a meaningful dialog. Your paragraph surpasses the ordinary and gives me hope that amidst the muck and mire of today’s politics that truthfulness will eventually prevail. I am keeping your words in my database, exactly as they appear, as a reminder when I begin to wonder about that possibility.

JUAN WILLIAMS: The Truth About Trump, Obama and the Race Card – FoxNews.com

via JUAN WILLIAMS: The Truth About Trump, Obama and the Race Card – FoxNews.com.

Mr. Williams, I am so disappointed in you given your comments in this piece and the racial tone they portray. I think I can speak for more reasonable Americans when I say that race is not the issue here. Everyone seems to forget the core issue is that our constitution requires a President to be born on American soil. By playing the poll games, President Obama chose the route which stirred the “birther” pot by not dealing with the issue early on. In the beginning I did not doubt his citizenship. As the voices grew louder, even I began to wonder. And as he continued to ignore the calls, Internally, I joined the masses who questioned his citizenship. In my heart I know it was not about race; I could care less. Now I hear you speak as you have spoken in this op-ed in attempt to continue the racial overtones. Again I am sure I speak for many Americans when I say that you have lowered your creditability today. I’m hoping these comments are not the true emotions that you really have in your heart and are only the ramblings that you are told are required to throw controversy into your audience to maintain your ratings.

Reaganite Republican: PROGRESS: a Mere 97% of Obama’s Bizarre, Obfuscated Past Remains Concealed Now

PROGRESS: a Mere 97% of Obama’s Bizarre, Obfuscated Past Remains Concealed Now

Obama birth certificate

At first glance, the long form birth certificate released yesterday appears genuine enough… unlike the motives of a Team Obama that preferred to send out $2M worth of lawyers to fight/prolong the issue for political gain rather than simply comply like a person acting in good faith (and with nothing to hide) would have done three years ago.

Real Unemployment in March 2011 was 22.0 Percent, Not 8.8 Percent –

How the Obama Administration Lies with Unemployment Statistics

April 11, 2011

By Jerome R. Corsi

The real unemployment rate may be 22.0% for March 2011, not the 8.8 percent reported, according to economist John Williams, author of http://www.shadowstats.com/ the “Shadow Government Statistics” website, who has argued for years that the federal government manipulates the reporting of economic data for political purposes.

In the BLS news release Friday, April 1, 2011, http://www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.nr0.htm the unemployment rate was reported to have fallen 0.1 percent to 8.8 percent in March 2011, although that is the “seasonally adjusted number.”

According to BLS Table A15, the “not seasonally adjusted” unemployment number for March 2011 was 9.2 percent.

Separately, Gallup disagreed with the BLS, reporting last week that unemployment was 10.0% in March, down from 10.2 percent in mid-March, and 10.3 percent at the end of February, as seen in the following chart:

IMF bombshell: Age of America nears end

Commentary: China’s economy will surpass the U.S. in 2016

By Brett Arends, MarketWatch

BOSTON (MarketWatch) — The International Monetary Fund has just dropped a bombshell, and nobody noticed.

For the first time, the international organization has set a date for the moment when the “Age of America” will end and the U.S. economy will be overtaken by that of China.

The Obama deficit tour

The Wall Street Journal’s Steve Moore critiques the president’s speeches attacking Republican budget plans.

And it’s a lot closer than you may think.

According to the latest IMF official forecasts, China’s economy will surpass that of America in real terms in 2016 — just five years from now.

Put that in your calendar.

It provides a painful context for the budget wrangling taking place in Washington, D.C., right now. It raises enormous questions about what the international security system is going to look like in just a handful of years. And it casts a deepening cloud over both the U.S. dollar and the giant Treasury market, which have been propped up for decades by their privileged status as the liabilities of the world’s hegemonic power.

According to the IMF forecast, whoever is elected U.S. president next year — Obama? Mitt Romney? Donald Trump? — will be the last to preside over the world’s largest economy.

Most people aren’t prepared for this. They aren’t even aware it’s that close. Listen to experts of various stripes and they will tell you this moment is decades away. The most bearish will put the figure in the mid-2020s.

But they’re miscounting. They’re only comparing the gross domestic products of the two countries using current exchange rates.

That’s a largely meaningless comparison in real terms. Exchange rates change quickly. And China’s exchange rates are phony. China artificially undervalues its currency, the renminbi, through massive intervention in the markets.

Stimulus by Fed Is Disappointing, Economists Say – NYTimes.com

The Federal Reserve’s experimental effort to spur a recovery by purchasing vast quantities of federal debt has pumped up the stock market, reduced the cost of American exports and allowed companies to borrow money at lower interest rates. But most Americans are not feeling the difference, in part because those benefits have been surprisingly small. The latest estimates from economists, in fact, suggest that the pace of recovery from the global financial crisis has flagged since November, when the Fed started buying $600 billion in Treasury securities to push private dollars into investments that create jobs.
